When you think of VW, you think of quality - and that's exactly what you get. A range of quality vans in sizes to suit most businesses - and now we get to finish the package

for them.

New VW CaddyThe Caddy has grown up a great deal in it's latest guise, and a very successful advertising on TV, magazines and national press has also fuelled the desire to own one.

There are a choice of two diesel engines, and a high specifications as standard, and although the Caddy is probably the most expensive van in its sector - people are clamouring to own one.

The same thing goes for the Transporter - not the greatest of bargains in the van world, but people do like them, end with engine options from an 82bhp 1.9tdi right through to an insane 174bhp, six speed monster - there's certainly enough power to satisfy anyone, no matter how powerful you need a van to be.The new VW Crafter has taken the look of some of VW's huge trucks...

The VW LT is the biggest in the range, and one of the biggest in the UK, but it's due for replacement in the next few months to become the Crafter (shown right).

VW vans are about reliability and about choice, but they don't seem to want to chase the 'volume' van market, VW actively try to prevent excessive discounting. That might sound like a bad thing, but it can work in your favour.

Because whilst other manufacturers chase new sales by giving huge amounts off money off their new vans, it has a knock on effect on used ones - why would you buy a two year old van with 40,000 miles, if a brand new one only cost £500 to £1,000 more?

On the other hand if someone wants to buy a Transporter, and can't afford a new one, they might look at your van in a couple of years - especially because VW's tend to wear well, and their owners generally tend to look after them because they've invested a fair price in the first instance.

What it usually means is that although your initial investment in a VW may be higher, the long terms running costs are generally no different to any other van because of their better re-sale values.
